The Hermit (Faulkner Tarot)
“Great thoughts don’t come to those who try too hard…” ~ John Prine
True wisdom comes to us in those quiet, unpretentious moments. When our mind is quiet, when we are at peace with our self, this is when inspiration finds us because we are not preoccupied by “trying.” This is one of the lessons of The Hermit- to allow for brilliance and inspiration by creating space for it. A calm, quiet mind is open to genius because it is not occupied with the mundane. This is your mission for the day. As much as you can, spend time away from the crowd. Crowds will drain your energy and demand your attention. Try having quiet moments in a crowd. Do they allow for them? Open your mind and let all that is petty and unimportant leak out, leaving room for what is divine and perfect. If you are unaccustomed to doing this, you will find it amazing what enters your thoughts when you are not trying to control them. If you are accustomed to this, then you know what I am talking about. Whatever the case may be, make today a day for quiet brilliance.

The Hermit
If you need time to yourself today, then by all means take time to be by yourself today. Being around other people can be trying sometimes. Why put yourself through it if you don’t have to? Withdraw. Retreat. Hide away. Sometimes this is the best way to be artistic, or brilliant by other means. It’s hard sometimes to hear your inner voices and follow your inner impulses when you have other people nagging at you, demanding your time and attention, or just talking too much around you or otherwise draining your energy. So if you need your own time, take your own time. Even if this means something as simple as eating lunch by yourself instead of with your colleagues, you are entitled to it.

THE HERMIT
Crowds can be annoying. Do what you can to stay out of them today. All that energy, swirled together like some kind of bizarre soup mix that we can’t control the ingredients of. It’s not always bad, there are lots of good people with good energy, but there are inevitably those unpleasant people, so unaware of how their attitude, actions, mindsets, thought forms, and ideas are creating energetic pollution that comes at you from every angle, every direction. There you are absorbing it all. This is particularly uncomfortable for the highly sensitive people on the planet. It is no wonder we sometimes feel drained at the end of the day, just from going shopping or walking down the street. This would be a good day to take a break from all that. If you can avoid crowds, do so. If you can avoid people who you predict will drain your energy, it would be a good idea to avoid them. Enjoy your day in your own way. You don’t have to explain yourself, for sensitive people, it seems, have difficulty being understood except by other sensitive people. So if you need time to yourself, just take it. Make an excuse if you must, but have the alone time your spirit craves.

Withdraw. Get away from the crowd. Turn off your phone. Be left alone. Do your own thing in your own way without any expectations being placed on you by others. This is important. We all need to do this once in awhile. We live a life where the expectations that are projected onto us become the mandates that we live by. We tend to forget our own missions and priorities. Get back to yourself. Do your own thing. Find your own bliss. Shine your own inner-brilliance without unnecessary and unwanted influences from other humans on the planet. Sometime we must tune out so we can tune in to ourselves. Do this today. What you find within will be amazing. Don’t let others distract you from it. Seriously, turn off your phone today. It will be the best favor you can do for yourself.
